Firstmed Announce Official Sponsorship Deal With The Basingstoke Bison

August 27th, 2008 by Eric

Firstmed Consulting are delighted to announce that they have recently become one of the official sponsors of The Basingstoke Bison ahead of the 2008-09 Bmibaby Elite Ice Hockey League season.

Ice Hockey, the world’s fastest team game, full of skillful stick handling, tactics, speed and grit is gaining in popularity in the UK. There are currently 33 affiliated clubs and over 8000 licensed players, officials and coaches.

We at Firstmed are delighted for this unique opportunity to increase awareness about male health and erectile dysfunction to fans and players alike.

Men are traditionally very reluctant to talk about health matters, especially when it comes to their performance in the bedroom. However, erectile dysfunction is extremely common and will affect most men at some stage or another.

Through this sponsorship deal, Firstmed is hoping to follow in the footsteps of the big pharmaceutical producers of ED medication (like Viagra and Cialis) who have launched successful awareness campaigns in the past by targeting sports personalities. Pfizer are the official sponsors of Major League Baseball stars, Nascar drivers and even featured football legend Pele as a spokesman. Men relate to and look up to sports stars. Putting a masculine face on a sensitive subject can often be enough to prod someone in the right direction to seek treatment.

Over the coming months, I’ll be bringing you updates of how ‘The Bison’ are performing in the league and look forward to learning all about Ice Hockey along the way. Hopefully, with Firstmed’s help, ‘the herd’ can become, in the words of one loyal supporter, ‘the hardest team in the league’.

The Myth of Cialis ‘Soft Tab’

August 14th, 2008 by Eric

I’d like to address an ongoing issue in the business of online impotence treatments- the mythical Cialis ‘soft tab’. For those not in the know Cialis (tadalafil) is a prescription drug for treatment of erectile dysfunction which was released in 2003 as a competitor for Pfizer’s Viagra and Bayer’s Levitra. Cialis is also known as the “le weekend” pill because its effects last for up to 36 hours. Cialis is under patent until 2016 which basically means that it is illegal for anyone other than Lily Icos to produce the drug. However, there are many unregistered companies breaking this law and producing versions of the drug in backstreet operations and selling them online at cut prices. One of the most well known of these is the Cialis ‘Soft Tab’.

The ‘soft tab’ doesn’t exist in any real sense. It is an illegal generic version of Lily Icos’s Cialis. However, ‘soft tabs’ enjoy very strong brand recognition online due in part to very successful spamming campaigns. Here at Firstmed, we get a lot of customers enquiring about them on a regular basis. These customers are generally unaware that Cialis soft tabs are illegal copies of Lily Icos’s patent protected product.

You don’t need to understand fully how pharmaceutical laws work but it is important to bear this in mind. Advising people to steer clear of generics is not simply about protecting Bayers patent, it’s a safety issue. The companies that produce and supply these potentially dangerous versions of Lily ’s Cialis are unregulated and operate outside the scope of the law. The bottom line is - you don’t know what you are getting and how safe it is. If you would like to learn more about generics and what to look out for visit our generics page.
