Can Humour be used to a Tackle Men’s Health Issues

July 5th, 2007 by Eric

humour-health.jpgMen are notoriously resistant to health warnings and many think that if they ignore a health problem it will go away. Though modern men may be more willing to embrace eating quiche or wearing pink shirts, the old ‘it’s all in your head’ motto seems to still apply to health.

A lot of health awareness campaigns seem to have a new strategy to alert men of the importance of looking after their health-attracting attention through humour.

Humour has proved to be an effective tool in informing men of the threat of testicular, prostate and penile cancers. Making men laugh could well be the key to making them stop and think and do something about it. One of the main problems with men’s health today is the social stigma of going to the doctor. This may be able to be overcome with a timely dose of good humour.

Erectile Dysfunction doesn’t respond well to neglect and may be a red flag that something’s not right with the body’s system. However, lots of men are too embarrassed to receive help

Here at Firstmed, we are working on adding a light hearted section to our site and also launching a newsletter where customers can read humorous stories and anecdotes about ED. We hope that humour is the best way to encourage men to take action and deal with whatever problems they may be experiencing.
