Some Women Getting Collagen Shots To Improve Sex

May 17th, 2007 by Eric

g-shot.jpgFor years now, men have had Viagra. Now there’s something to enhance a woman’s sexual experience.

The G-Shot is revving up sex lives. Sometimes our love lives need more than hand holding and Barry White music. Now women have a new option to help them in the bedroom. Melissa Sherrill has decided to get a G-Shot to increase her sexual pleasure.

Dr. Justin Salerno, M.D., Obstetrician Gynecologist, says, “It’s a form of human collagen we inject into the front wall of the vaginal tissues where the G-Spot is.” After finding her pleasure zone and numbing it with local anesthesia, Dr. Salerno, who is based in northern California, injects the collagen.

Melissa Sherrill, a G-Shot Client, says, “It didn’t hurt at all.”

The collagen is FDA approved to plump up lips, but this is an off-label use. Dr. Salerno is one of the few doctors in the nation offering it, and women are driving miles to his office to give it a shot.

Dr. Salerno says “I’ve only offered this eight weeks but I’ve basically been unable to keep up with demand.” There’s a price for heightened sexual pleasure. The G-shot costs $1,850 and lasts four months.

Dr. Salerno says the shot is designed for women who already have a healthy sex life and want an even better one. Women like one mother of three, who asked that her face not be shown, and credits the G-Shot with helping her reach orgasm faster.

Another G-Shot client, says “Way more quickly and multiple, not just one or two but four or five which made it a lot better.”

Licensed psychologist and sex therapist Dr. Bryna Barsky-Ex does not recommend the G-Shot.

Dr. Bryna Barsky-Ex, a sex therapist, says, “I think getting addicted to the $1,800 dollars every four months just to be able to function sexually is problematic. There are a lot of ways to get pleasure. And I really don’t think you need a shot to be able to do it.”

And she’s concerned about the lack of studies looking at the possible long term side effects of the injection.

But Dr. Salerno says it’s safe and his patients are happy. One G-Shot client says, “Once you’ve had it this good, you don’t want to go back.” 44-year-old Melissa Sherrill is looking forward to enjoying the same benefits.

Sherrill says, “Better sex, a better sex life with my partner. The main thing is it gives me a boost of self esteem.”

The G-Shot does come with some risks. They include bleeding, infections, and allergic reactions, and not all women experience a benefit.
