Although work pays the bills and facilitates a comfortable home life, stress from the workplace often overspills into employees’ home life and even into the bedroom, according to new research.
One in five employees feel that their family life has been damaged by work and are left too tired for sex, reports a survey by the Work Life Balance Centre.
In addition, eight in ten feel that they are out of their depth at time in the workplace and two thirds of respondents said they had been made ill by work at some point in their lives.
Nearly half of these were suffering from depression and over two in five suffered from panic attacks.
Julie Hurst, director of the Work Life Balance Centre said: “The levels of depression and anxiety have been increasing. Depression and anxiety have become a silent epidemic in the workplace and yet there is so much that can be done to reduce both problems.
“I would urge all employers to look carefully at these issues and arrange access to the appropriate forms of help, as it is in the long term interests of the business to support healthy, and ultimately productive, employees.”
Drugs such as Viagra, Cialis and Levitra can help to overcome erectile dysfunction problems caused by stress in the workplace.
